Preiser has an extensive range of animals in 1/87, in addition to the 1/72 items listed here. The 1/87 items could conceivably be used as a basis to portray smaller species, or the young of a given 1/72 species, particularly with birds and dogs. Substituting adult 1/87 items to portray the young of large mammals in 1/72, such as cattle and horses, is not appropriate;
as the young have quite different proportions to their adult counterparts. The horse is the most common animal subject in 1/72 for obvious reasons and can thus be found in all cavalry figure sets and accompanying most models of horse drawn vehicles. Some examples are quoted below, but these are just the tip of the iceberg.
