air-launched ordnance. | |
Most aircraft kits come with the relevant complement of ordnance. The Census here lists those items produced separately from aircraft kits, either as individual weapons, or sets thereof. In the eighties, Hasegawa pioneered the concept of weapons sets sold separately, the idea being to reduce duplication. Naturally, all subsequent aircraft kit toolings were released without ordnance where that weapon was available in their separate sets. Other companies have since followed, but the tendency to include ordnance in aircraft kits themselves continues. Virtually every injection-moulded weapon suffers from overscale fins (too thick), but this can be addressed somewhat by their replacement with photo-etched parts. We have listed sets as well as individual items contained in those sets to assist the modeller in locating a particular type of weapon.
