| Kit Review | |
Italeri tooling The Italeri kit is dimensionally accurate, but will need some refinement to make an accurate model. The butterfly tail is slightly too large, and the juncture between the air intakes and centre fuselage is not streamlined enough. The lower intake lip is at an incorrect angle in plan view, and should be parallel to the wing leading edge. The rear fuselage from the wing trailing edge backwards needs re-angling slightly upwards to correct a downward sag. On the upper suface, the troughs between the fuselage and engine nacelles are too deep. The jet nozzle doors supplied are only applicable to the P&W engined PAV1, and will have to be modified if PAV 2 is to be modelled. The foward fuselage, nose and canopy are very accurate. Weapons carriage apparatus is ficticious. The prototypes never carried weapons. Consult references. The Dragon kit is substandard, being inaccurate in contour and consequently not worth considering. | |
