Airfix 03026-1
This tooling was one of the first Hawk kits to be released. It depicts the pre-production version with no ventral fins, and a shorter fin fillet at the trailing edge. Despite its age, it is the most accurate tooling, due to the correct depiction of the fuselage in the nose area and the cross section aft of the wing trailing edge. The kit features an Aden gun pod, small drop tanks, Matra rocket pods, and bombs. This kit is recommended as the preferred starting point for all versions of the Hawk due to the accuracy of its fuselage.

Italeri 173
This kit must have been tooled before the definitive shape of the T-45 was publicly known, as it is a very poor rendition of the T-45. The kit is basically a standard Hawk with navalised undercarriage and US airbrakes moulded in. It has incorrect Hawk-style wing tips, tailplanes, and vertical fin, and the under-fuselage nose profile does not show the deepening to accomodate the bulkier undercarriage associated with this variant.

Italeri 186
Produced much later than the Airfix kit, it has the longer fin fillet of the production version as well as ventral fins. However, the fuselage is incorrectly contoured aft of wing trailing edge, the nose is too conical, and it has incorrectly shaped wing tanks. The cockpit parts are better than the Airfix kit, though.

Model Alliance MA-72115
A nice product in that it picks up where the old Superscale sheet left off, but frustratingly suffers from a number of shortcomings. The Saudi scheme depicts a pre-delivery machine only; no in-service sqn badge is provided, even though it could have been printed given the range of colours on the sheet. The green colour chosen for Kenya, Kuwait, and the UAE is too light in shade. The Omani insignia arms motif should be in metalic gold, not yellow. The Kuwaiti machine is incorrectly depicted with UAE wing roundels and the UAE camou scheme. There is no info on paint colour specs, nor starboard views given. The instructions try to make up for this by stating that the modeller should refer to their own reference or Model Alliance's book on the Hawk: On Target No 3. This is fine for someone who is very familiar with the Hawk, but what about the modeller who is new to the type or does not have the budget to purchase the necessary references? In addition, why go to the trouble of printing full-colour instructions if these vital pieces of information are going to be left out? Model Alliance's errors are all the more frustrating given that they have gone to the trouble of producing a book and several decal sheets for the type; one would have thought they would familiar enough with the type such that these sorts of errors would not occur. On the plus side, the sheet includes both types of marking for Zimbabwe, all Indonesian variants and schemes, both Abu Dhabi and Dubai UAE schemes, and extra arabic numerals included for the UAE schemes. Although a touch too pale in colour, he Saudi national markings are the most crisp we have seen printed for this nation so far.
